General Manager is expected to work a 40-hour work week and is expected to increase availability if necessary to meet the Company’s customers’ demands. This employee’s availability must be predictable at scheduled times and is required to be physically present at the workplace in order to conduct business.
Job Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of production operations, from estimating and scheduling to quality control and delivery. Manages workflow through Printer’s Plan, ensuring jobs are completed on time, within budget, and to customer specifications. Coordinates across departments to optimize machine and labor efficiency, maintain inventory, and control expenses. Build strong vendor relationships to secure pricing, materials, and timely deliveries. Leads and develops staff through effective scheduling, delegation, motivation, and performance evaluation. Ensures operational systems, IT support, and software remain fully functional while maintaining office organization and upkeep. Collaborate with customers to resolve delays, uphold quality standards, and ensure accurate, timely invoices.
Create accurate and timely estimates based on customer specifications and project scope.
Upon customer approval, create jobs in printers plan and release them to production.
Prioritize, schedule, and maintain completion schedule of orders.
Coordinate with all departments to ensure production schedules and deadlines are met. Optimize machine and labor utilization by scheduling jobs to minimize setup time.
Work with vendors to obtain pricing and scheduling for customer orders.
Inspect product and processes to ensure compliance with company and customer quality standards; Approve colors for critical work.
Oversee job status in the Printer’s Plan scheduler from submission through delivery.
Ensure all jobs are invoiced promptly according to payment terms (COD, Net 30, or credit card).
Control material and supply expenses within budgetary constraints.
Source non-inventory paper stocks as requested by customers, providing availability and alternative options as needed.
Address production delays by collaborating with customers to adjust due dates or implement alternative solutions.
Manage staff by scheduling, delegating tasks, motivating, and evaluating employee performance. Collaborate with the Owner on staffing recommendations and implementation.
Approve time sheets and PTO for reports.
Conduct hourly shop walk-throughs to verify workflow aligns with priority order.
Lead daily production meetings to review job schedules, address issues, and discuss follow-ups.
Prepare morning and afternoon task lists for production staff.
Ensure all software systems (Print MIS, Plan Prophet, payment processing, Speedy website, UPS, etc.) are operational, coordinating with product support as needed.
Manage and coordinate IT requirements through the company’s IT support vendor.
Oversee general office upkeep and maintenance, working with the landlord and other vendors as necessary.
Ensure all jobs are completed within established timeframes, cost estimates, and quality standards.
Order and maintain office and job-specific supply inventories.
Educational Requirements:
High School Education required. College education preferred. Minimum and 5 years’ customer service experience within the printing industry; or an equivalent combination of education and printing experience.
Advanced proficiency in Print MIS, preferably Printer’s Plan and/or Plan Prophet.
Mental and Physical Requirements:
Excellent English communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, work orders, governmental regulations, and policy and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, customers and employees. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in with several abstract and concrete variables.
Requires performing tasks standing (30%), walking (30%), bending (5%) and sitting (30%). Lifts materials up to 25 pounds and carries while walking up to 5 times per day for distances up to 10 feet. Works in an air-conditioned office environment with low to moderate noise levels.

Interact with coworkers, customers, and vendors professionally and respectfully at all times. Maintain accurate orders, files, office equipment and work area.
