The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) is seeking a Digitisation Assistant who thrives on structured processes, high-quality outcomes, and working carefully with cultural collections. About the Role
As a Digitisation Assistant, you will play a key role in the digitisation of MAGNT’s History, Culture and Art Collections, supporting the creation, processing and management of high-quality digital assets.
This is a hands-on, detail-driven role that involves:
Consistent image capture of 2‑dimensional artworks using established studio workflows
Careful processing, colour management, naming and creation of digital file derivatives
Managing file integrity and transferring assets into digital asset and collection management systems
Working with time-based media workflows and digital‑born material
Handling rare and fragile collection items with care and precision (training will be provided)
You will be supported by, and work closely with, the Digital Imaging Officer with opportunities to build capability in:
Digital asset management
Collections handling and documentation
Museum standards and best practice
Professional photography and imaging workflows

What We’re Looking For
Essential requirements include
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
A strong preference for methodical work and high-quality work outcomes
Relevant experience in museum studies, library and archive management, photography, imaging, IT or digital asset management and/ or associated tertiary qualifications
Understanding of colour management and digital file management
Full Australian work rights
Highly Desirable
Experience working in a museum, gallery or cultural heritage environment
Experience handling delicate or valuable objects (particularly 2‑D works)
Experience with professional camera equipment and image processing software
EMU or other Collection Management System experience
