Job Description
PathPoint is currently seeking a full-time Direct Support Professional to join our ACCESS day program team based in Northridge, CA. Access is a 100% community-based work training program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
As a Direct Support Professional, you will teach a variety of skills while supervising a group of adults. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference for people with disabilities! The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8am-3:00pm.
What You'll Do
• Supervise individuals while providing motivation and direction.
• Teach individuals vocational skills to help prepare them for entry-level employment.
• Teach individuals social/life skills to help them lead more independent lives, including communication skills, mobility, money management, and public transportation.
• Build friendly and professional rapport with individuals and act as a positive role model for work habits, communication skills, and social skills.
• Prepare weekly schedules, monthly training projections, and written progress reports.
• Develop and teach comprehensive and meaningful curriculum, including but not limited to vocational skills, money management, housing, communication, social/survival skills, and self-advocacy.
What We're Looking For
• High school diploma or GED is required
• Prior experience supporting or instructing individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required; if you are interested in this job but do not have directly relevant experience, we'd still love to hear from you!
• Someone who is culturally sensitive and respects differences in employees and people we support Must pass pre-employment Live Scan DOJ fingerprint background check, TB screening and basic health screening
• Culturally sensitive and aware of differences in employees based on cultural backgrounds; aware of one's own culture and how someone's background may lead to biases; has the skills and resources needed to work with employees from all different cultures and the ability to avoid making biased assumptions based on someone's culture

Compensation: This is an hourly, non-exempt position starting at $21.75 per hour. The pay range is $20.66 - 22.84 an hour. The pay range is subject to change based on a variety of factors.
