The Role

Reporting to the Vice President, External Relations, the Director of Continuing Education is responsible for leading the Department of Continuing Education. The Director participates as an active member of the Core Leadership Team and provides operational leadership to the Department of Continuing Education. As a revenue-generating department, the position promotes learner-centred non-credit programming while contributing to the overall organizational goals and objectives by responding to industry needs and developing and maintaining relationships with other post-secondary institutions, industry, community, and government. Within the Department, the position will focus on increasing revenue through innovation, strategic partnerships and the development and mentorship of non-credit courses and the Continuing Education team.

Responsibilities include:

Strategic Planning and Leadership.
Program Development and Coordination.
Department Budget planning and implementation.
Normal activities may require travel and so incumbents must be able to always obtain and maintain valid travel documentation.

Job Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in a related field such as business or education is desired, but an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience in demonstrated leadership, problem solving and decision-making. Necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:

proven leadership and mentoring skills.
proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; knowledge of Matador and Agresso are considered an asset.
strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
well developed project management and strategic planning skills.
