Position Overview
Baxter is seeking a Director - Digital Applications who will be responsible for all Software level R&D activities related to Infusion Systems Digital Applications and Platforms and their integration with electromechanical systems and enterprise connectivity platforms across the Medical Products and Therapies and Healthcare Systems and Technologies divisions. This includes feasibility/prototyping, new product development, and sustaining phases of the product development lifecycle.
The Director will lead a global team of Software leaders including technical and functional leaders spanning across architecture, design and development, software testing, cyber security across digital technology stack and provides technical expertise and guidance, along with accountability of reviewing and approving complex design concepts. They need to utilize a solid understanding of theories and practices of a variety of disciplines to help manage complex projects or programs within boundaries of scope, schedule and budget.
They will also be accountable for driving specific operational efficiency activities consistent with business objectives to position organization for the future.
This position is based out of Bangalore and will be reporting to Sr Director for Infusion Systems Software R&D.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Contribute to strategic planning and technical roadmap development and accountable for tactical execution of development programs spanning across the product portfolio
• Create, effectively communicate, and realize vision and strategy for the organization that aligns with the business and patient needs.
• Establish an organization structure that ensures clear accountability and operational excellence and drive organizational transformation to build a culture of engineering.
• Provide strategic planning leadership for technology and architectural evolution of the digital portfolio, resource staffing and project execution with proactive management of technical and project risk to ensure delivery of business commitments.
• Fosters an environment of creativity and innovation in the organization to influence the strategic digital roadmaps.
• Embrace and embed agile ways of working in support of a fail-fast-learn-fast culture and enabling continual improvement
• Leverages deep knowledge of technology/process/therapy domains, user needs, hazards, risk, and business targets and budgets to drive solutions and product design realization.
• Foster a collaborative work environment with strong working relationships within and across businesses, functions and with strategic external partners.
• Set up and Drive common Quality processes and operating mechanisms and institutionalize them for the software development being done in various locations.
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant Quality System Regulations and other regulatory requirements related to research and development (product development, design and safety) to ensure compliance in all research, data collection and reporting activities.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor s Degree in an Engineering field is required.
• 15+ years experience in a software engineering role with experience in digital software products and platforms. Prior Experience in medical device companies is desired.
• At least 5+ years of experience in leading managers and demonstrated competency in providing leadership to direct reports/indirect reports
• Significant experience working in a global matrix environment and working with cross functional teams to drive strategic objectives.
• Strong proven experience with people management and building high performing teams.
• Proven experience in driving digital technology roadmaps working with the cross functional organization.
• Must possess strong knowledge of scientific/technical disciplines and solid knowledge of related disciplines such a regulatory, quality, and/or product development. Recognized internally and externally as expert in functional area.
• Must be a strategic, innovative problem solver, and have strong influencing and communication skills.
• Familiarity and experience with IEC62304 standard for software life cycle is highly preferred.
• Proven coaching and mentoring skills with ability to motivate, inspire and get the best out of team.
