Overview: The Director, IT Application Program Management, is responsible for the successful delivery of multiple IT concurrent projects and large programs consisting of multiple projects. In this role, the individual will coordinate the work of various Project Managers and will also serve as their mentor. He/She will work closely with project managers to ensure successful project outcomes through a disciplined project management process and in close collaboration with business partners, team members, external vendors and various IT functions. In addition to direct responsibility, the Director, IT Application Program Manager, will act as a partner to the VP, IT Transformation, in guiding strategy for the Project Management Office and to develop the IT overall strategy and roadmap.

Your Challenges:

Strategic Vision
Support the VP, IT transformation in developing a forward-thinking IT strategy that aligns with the company’s overall business goals and long-term growth strategies.

Leadership
Build and lead a high-performing team or internal and external Project Managers, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to ensure a cohesive and skilled workforce while fostering a culture of collaboration, positive team environment, and provide direction in ambiguous situations.
Develop and provide specific training to the whole PMO in areas such as budget and schedule management, defining business requirements, lessons learned, etc.
Collaborate closely with other leaders of the Domtar IT community with whom we are delivering the application project portfolio
Contribute to improving the relationship between IT and the rest of the Domtar organization, namely by enhancing IT credibility with the business community

Planning and Scheduling
Coordinate the activities of different project teams working toward a common purpose.
Support Project Managers in planning and structuring projects, consulting on the use of project management tools.
Create and maintain integrated schedules for projects of a program, track program interdependencies, maintain and present status of the program.

Delivery and Execution
Foster, implement and encourage a project delivery culture.
Establish and ensure execution of project execution plans.
Oversee project delivery, plan and execute complex IT programs and/or multiple concurrent projects using Domtar project management tools, processes and governance.
Ensure projects and programs meet quality standards, deliverables, timelines, and budgets while addressing risks and issues proactively.
Should unforeseen events impact project delivery, work with the project managers on minimizing the impacts and propose recovery measures.

Financial Management and Resource Allocation
Administer and manage annual budgets for executing various IT Application projects.
Ensure each project and program meets their individual budget.
Perform resource capacity analysis to ensure project resources are applied efficiently and effectively.
Provide necessary resources to project teams for efficient execution.
Prioritize activities that lead to achieving the organization’s objectives.

Communication
Draft and present program status updates using effective verbal and written communication.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure project performance, prepare regular reports and present insights to leadership.
Provide guidance to the project managers on how to effectively communicate with stakeholders.

PMO Process Improvement
Work in collaboration with Project Governance to Improve project management methodologies, tools and processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness within the PMO.
Lead the implementation of new methodologies, tools and processes with the Project Managers

Change Management
Assist organizational change management (OCM) in proactively identifying and communicating business process changes and impacts to the organization.
Define and implement tailored solution adoption strategies so that users and the organization can benefit from the value generated by delivered projects. Encourage, guide and support the project managers to do the same.
Ensure project managers understand the impacts of project decisions on users, external parties, the organization and technology.

Your skills:

Ability to lead IT Application implementations, integrations, and upgrades.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strategic Perspective: Understands the viewpoint of higher management and effectively analyzes complex problems.
Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills including the ability to actively listen, problem solve, and communicate effectively with both technical and business users.
Skilled in negotiating and problem-solving with both internal and external stakeholders.
Outstanding attention to detail combined with the ability to see the big picture.
Comfortable exercising judgment and using analytical skills in ambiguous situations.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a changing environment; proactively seek out information when necessary.
Strong understanding of business requirements and general business acumen
Experience monitoring and managing vendor performance.
Decisiveness: Prefers quick and approximate actions in many management situations
Accountability for the team’s results

Your profile:

Bilingual French and English
Bachelor's degree in information technology, Business Administration, or related field (a master's degree in a relevant field is preferred)
PMP certification and/or training.
15+ years of experience in IT Project Management including end-to-end experience for medium-to-large projects and programs, with progressive leadership responsibilities.
Broad understanding of IT enterprise application landscape and ERP (SAP) technology.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Deep understanding of and ability to manage Project, Products and Program using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Success in managing multiple, large IT projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of Project Management tools.
Ability to foster partnerships with consulting and software partners.
