Director – Merchant Banking
Location: Mumbai
Department: Investment Banking / Merchant Banking
Reporting To: Managing Director
Role Overview:
The Director – Merchant Banking will lead and manage end-to-end execution of capital
market transactions, including IPOs, private placements, debt syndication, and advisory
mandates. The role requires strong leadership, client relationship management, and
deep expertise in financial markets and regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead origination and execution of merchant banking mandates such as IPOs,
QIPs, rights issues, and private equity placements
• Develop and maintain relationships with corporates, institutional investors, and
key stakeholders
• Oversee preparation of offer documents, financial models, valuation analysis,
and pitch presentations
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including guidelines prescribed
by Securities and Exchange Board of India
• Manage due diligence, structuring, pricing, and transaction execution
• Coordinate with legal advisors, auditors, registrars, and other intermediaries
• Drive business development initiatives and identify new revenue opportunities
• Mentor and lead a team of analysts and associates
• Monitor market trends and provide strategic advisory to clients
Key Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics, or related field;
MBA/CA/CFA preferred
• Minimum 10–15 years of experience in merchant banking / investment banking
• Strong understanding of capital markets, financial instruments, and regulatory
environment
• Proven track record of successfully executing deals (IPO, M&A, fundraising, etc.)
• Excellent client management, negotiation, and leadership skills
• Strong analytical and financial modeling expertise
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple transactions simultaneously
