Georgia Asylum & Immigration Network (GAIN) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to protect and empower immigrant survivors of crime and persecution. For 21 years, GAIN has been a nonprofit leader in immigration legal services, providing critical legal and social service support to thousands of men, women, and children from over 120 countries around the world.

Overview of Role

GAIN seeks a Director of Development who is responsible for leading, executing, and growing GAIN’s fundraising program across individual, corporate, foundation, event, and organizational giving. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role will lead the department and continue to build a sustainable revenue pipeline that supports GAIN’s long-term goals. The Director of Development will serve as a relationship builder, strategic thought partner, and key ambassador for GAIN. The right candidate will have an understanding of the organization’s mission, and possess experience and familiarity with the nonprofit immigration sector.

General Duties and Responsibilities

Partner closely with the Executive Director, serving as a strategic thought partner and providing clear guidance on fundraising priorities and opportunities.
Lead and support the development team, including managing contractors and fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture grounded in accountability and clear goals.
Build strong relationships and manage a robust portfolio of private and public foundation and government funders
Lead grant prospecting, proposal writing, submission strategy, and follow-up, ensuring high-quality, timely applications
Work with the ED to secure multi-year, general operating, and capacity-building support through tailored proposals and funder cultivation
Maintain and update the grant CRM and stewardship calendar, tracking deadlines, submissions, reports, and funder touchpoints
Build and steward a strong corporate partnership pipeline that supports GAIN’s signature events, ERG engagement, and program initiatives
Grow long-term corporate investment by cultivating key relationships and securing renewed and multi-year commitments
Grow individual giving through personalized cultivation, stewardship, and strong relationship-building, especially with major donors, DAFs, and family foundations.
Lead and manage annual giving campaigns, including year-end and other targeted appeals.
Strengthen and expand the Bridge Builders monthly giving program, focusing on retention, upgrades, and meaningful engagement.
Oversee fundraising strategy for annual gala and other revenue generating community events throughout the year.
Equip and activate the Board and relevant committees through clear fundraising plans, regular progress reporting, and tailored tools that help them engage their networks on GAIN’s behalf.
Track department KPIs monthly with the team and adjust strategy to meet revenue targets
Partner with Communications to integrate donor storytelling, impact updates, and newsletters.
Knowledge and Skills

5–7+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience, preferably in a multi-stream development role.
Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
Strong project management, organization, and planning experience
Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM and cloud-based tools
Ability to thrive in a small, collaborative team environment
Cultural competency to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds and communicate the needs of immigrant survivors with clarity and dignity
Professionalism and decorum to work with donors and partners, leading with gratitude, authenticity, and expertise
