Job Description
CoreWeave is looking for a Senior Director of Engineering who will help architect, build and scale our foundational Cloud Experience organization. In this engineering leadership role, you will manage multiple teams and managers to define and evolve our public API platform and developer interfaces. These essential services will include our Console, REST/gRPC API's, Infrastructure-as-Code, CLI, and SDKs; enabling customers to self-serve provisioning and operations at scale. You are highly technical, very strategic, and a great collaborator who will help solve complex challenges that drive innovation, ensuring we raise the bar on reliability/security/scalability for CoreWeave's Cloud Experience.
About the role:
Leadership & Strategy
• Build and scale highperforming teams: hire and develop managers and senior engineers, set clear goals and accountability, mature oncall with actionable runbooks, and foster an inclusive, growthoriented culture.
• Drive our gRPCfirst strategy with generated REST to accelerate SDKs/Terraform and platformwide consistency, while raising the bar on reliability, security, and operational excellence
• Shape strategy for agent workflows that orchestrate console actions, APIs, and IaC into repeatable, policycompliant sequences that help customers and internal users automate common cloud tasks.
Technical
• Lead teams to develop a cohesive, reliable CoreWeave Cloud API that becomes the foundation for all developer touchpoints (Console, SDKs, CLI, IaC), enabling customers to selfserve provisioning and operations at scale.
• Work in partnership with design and product to deliver a best-in-class console user experience for both external customers and internal administrators
• Lead an IaCfirst approach to enable dayone Terraform support for new GA products, partnering with DX and Docs to deliver highquality providers, SDKs, and developer documentation.
Collaboration
• Collaborate across Security, Observability, and Infrastructure to ship scalable, secure public APIs and platform capabilities aligned to company objectives and product roadmaps.
Who You Are:
• 10+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years leading managers and multiteam organizations delivering customerfacing platform surfaces at scale.
• Proven track record delivering reliable public APIs and backend services with measurable SLOs and leading crossfunctional initiatives spanning multiple product lines.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing infrastructure using Kubernetes, scalable architectures, and automation.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to set organizational strategy, review RFCs, and drive outcomes amid ambiguity and rapid growth.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize problem statements from interactions with customers.
Preferred: (if applicable)
• Experience with Kubernetes control-plane/API design patterns and CRD ergonomics; ability to bridge KRM and gRPC/REST interfaces where appropriate.
• Experience with API gateways, rate limiting, multitenancy, and edge security at scale.
• Familiarity with modern frontend stacks (e.g., React, GraphQL) used for building cloud consoles and admin tools, and how they interact with API and IAM layers.
• Understanding of authentication, authorization, and policy frameworks; proven ability to integrate IAM into API surfaces with consistent semantics.
Wondering if you're a good fit? We believe in investing in our people, and value candidates who can bring their own diversified experiences to our teams - even if you aren't a 100% skill or experience match.
