Position Overview: As a Board Member, the Director, Events plays a key leadership role in guiding the organization’s event strategy and overseeing the planning, execution, and evaluation of . This volunteer Board position provides a strategic vision to ensure events align with the nonprofit's mission of supporting individuals with disabilities. The Director will collaborate closely with fellow board members to ensure events are successful in raising funds, increasing awareness, and fostering community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Event Strategy and Planning:
Work with the Board to develop strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and mission.
Oversee and approve the planning of key events (e.g., .
Ensure events are tailored to the target audience.
Leadership and Oversight:
Lead a team of volunteers in the execution of events, ensuring they meet both logistical and financial objectives.
Provide direction and support for event committees, ensuring that roles and responsibilities are clear, and tasks are being completed on time.
Monitor event budgets and help identify opportunities for cost-saving or revenue-generating initiatives.
Fundraising and Sponsorship:

Ensure events achieve goals and assist in developing strategies for increasing revenue.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement:
Represent the organization and its mission at events and within the community.
Promote awareness and visibility of the nonprofit's work by leveraging events to connect with local communities, potential donors, volunteers, and advocates.
Engage with other organizations, partners, and individuals who are aligned with the cause of supporting individuals with disabilities.
Evaluation and Reporting:
Evaluate the success of each event, identifying key metrics and feedback from participants, sponsors, and attendees.
Provide regular reports on event outcomes to the Board, including financial performance, engagement results, and any lessons learned for future events.
Ensure that all events comply with legal and organizational policies, including accessibility standards for people with disabilities.
Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other board members, volunteers, and staff members to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment.
Support the development of event-related marketing, promotional materials, and social media campaigns to drive attendance and awareness.
Assist in recruiting and training new event committee members and volunteers.
Qualifications:
Passionate about the nonprofit sector and committed to advocating for individuals with disabilities.
Experience in event planning, fundraising, or related areas; experience working on a nonprofit board is a plus.
Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and motivate others.
Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to network and secure sponsorships and partnerships.
Knowledge of disabilities issues and the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities is preferred.
