As Director of Finance (Pillars), you will lead a team providing specialist financial services to five NSW Health agencies: the Agency for Clinical Innovation, Clinical Excellence Commission, Health Education Training Institute, Bureau of Health Information, Cancer Institute NSW, and the Mental Health Commission. You will be the trusted financial partner to each agency's Chief Executive, Board, and Audit & Risk Committee providing strategic advice, overseeing budgets and forecasts, and driving financial performance across a diverse portfolio. This is a rare opportunity to shape financial strategy across multiple health agencies, each with a distinct mission and operating model. You will report to the Executive Director, System Financial Performance and Deputy CFO, within the Financial and Corporate Services Division. If you thrive on complexity, stakeholder engagement, and making a tangible impact on health outcomes through sound financial leadership, this role is for you.

Health Manager Level 6 starting salary from $189,878 - $207,381 plus Super, with a 40 hour work week.

What you’ll be doing
Lead end-to-end financial management for five NSW Health Pillar agencies including budgets, forecasts, monthly reporting, and year-end close.
Serve as the primary financial adviser to each agency's Chief Executive, Board, and Audit & Risk Committee. Present financial reports, provide strategic recommendations, and represent finance at governance forums.
Drive efficiency improvement planning and savings initiatives across the portfolio. Work collaboratively with agency leadership to identify opportunities, monitor delivery, and report performance to the Deputy CFO.
Lead and develop a team of finance professionals, building capability in financial analysis, stakeholder engagement, and health sector financial management.
Manage cross-agency financial issues including funding allocation, service agreements, and budget supplementation. Provide financial input to business cases, costing models, and Treasury submissions.

About you:
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
Relevant tertiary qualification in accountancy, economics, commerce or finance, and membership of a recognised Australian accounting body (CA or CPA)
Demonstrated leadership in managing teams and fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Extensive experience in financial management within a large, complex organisation, ideally in health, government, or a multi-entity environment.
Proven ability to build trusted partnerships with senior executives, Boards, and diverse stakeholder groups across multiple organisations
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable advice
