Job description
A great UHY client is seeking a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to join their team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in the Insurance industry, minimum of 10 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, and strong knowledge of financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis techniques.

The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis position is a hybrid position - largely remote with in-person meetings and travel as needed. This is a client direct hire position.

Director of Financial Planning & Analysis Responsibilities:

Financial Planning and Budgeting:
• Lead the annual budgeting process, including the development of financial models, coordination with department heads, and consolidation of budget inputs.
• Develop and maintain long-term financial planning models to support strategic initiatives and business objectives.
• Prepare detailed financial forecasts, incorporating key business drivers and market conditions.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:
• Provide timely and accurate financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
• Analyze financial performance against budget, forecasts, and prior periods, identifying key trends and variances.
• Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, dashboards, and presentations to the executive team and board of directors.

Strategic Decision Support:
• Collaborate with senior management to develop and evaluate business strategies, investment opportunities, and capital allocation decisions.
• Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to assess the financial impact of various strategic options.
• Support mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities, including financial due diligence and integration planning.

New Product Evaluation
• Work with department heads to develop, evaluate and launch new product offerings
• Work with department heads to Collaborate with the executive team and other key stakeholders to evaluate the profitability of potential future product offerings
• Develop financial models to evaluate ROI, break-even analysis, margin analysis, and product profit margin

Performance Management:
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track business performance and drive accountability.
• Develop and implement financial performance metrics and dashboards to provide actionable insights to business units.
• Work with department heads to develop performance improvement plans and track progress against goals.

Operational Efficiency:
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, and reporting to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Lead initiatives to streamline budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.
• Implement best practices in financial planning and analysis to support continuous improvement.

Team Leadership and Development:
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of FP&A professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Set performance goals and provide regular feedback and development opportunities.
• Ensure the team stays current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Work closely with various departments, including finance, underwriting, claims, actuarial, marketing, and operations, to gather relevant data and insights.
• Build strong relationships with department heads to ensure alignment of financial planning with business objectives.
• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across the organization.

Director of Financial Planning & Analysis Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field;
• MBA, CPA or CFA preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, finance, or a related role within the insurance industry.
• Insurance industry experience required
• Strong knowledge of financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis techniques.
• Proven experience in managing complex financial projects and providing strategic financial guidance.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as Excel, financial planning systems, and ERP systems.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
