This role demands strategic oversight as well as tactical execution—here, you will set the vision for the mechanical engineering function while tackling critical technical decisions and design challenges.
Responsibilities
• Lead and nurture a skilled team of mechanical engineers focused on advancing our data center design initiatives.
• Provide key technical and organizational leadership for the design, review, and continuous enhancement of essential mechanical systems serving our data centers.
• Establish and promote engineering standards, design guidelines, and best practices that enhance quality, scalability, and execution efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design Management, Electrical Engineering, and Operations to ensure cohesive project development.
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex mechanical engineering challenges and make informed decisions on design tradeoffs and risks.
• Champion continuous improvement by integrating operational feedback and lessons learned from previous projects into future designs.
• Drive business growth by exploring new technologies and innovative design strategies that enhance availability and efficiency.
• Represent the mechanical engineering function in leadership discussions and contribute to strategic planning efforts.
• Enhance organizational capabilities through effective hiring, team development, and implementing scalable engineering processes.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 8+ years in mechanical engineering with a strong focus on data centers or mission-critical infrastructure.
• 4+ years of leadership experience, including team management and organizational responsibilities.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems relevant to mission-critical facilities.
• Familiarity with liquid cooling systems and high-density computing environments.
• Proven experience leading technical reviews and ensuring engineering quality.
• Robust understanding of the data center project lifecycle from planning through operations.
• Ability to navigate through ambiguity and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with various technical and executive stakeholders.
• Experience in building influential cross-functional partnerships.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in large-scale mission-critical infrastructure or hyperscale environments.
• Expertise in developing engineering standards and scalable processes.
• Experience managing external consultants and engineering service providers.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
• Track record of supporting organizational growth through talent development.
• Strong foundation in reliability and risk management for critical systems.
• Experience in presenting technical strategies and risks to senior leadership.

Hiring Range in USD from: $139,400 to $291,800 per annum, with potential eligibility for bonuses and equity.
