DataLabs is looking for a Director of Software Engineering (Full Stack + Data Management/ Data Secuirty) to spearhead our foray into autonomous and intelligent data products that solve the full gamut of business and analytical needs. This role involves working with heads of lines of businesses in our Financial Services division to understand contemporary business needs, lead analytical teams to make impactful and actionable offers, and work with Engineering groups to lead tech delivery of large product builds. The role encompasses recruiting, developing and motivating an exceptional team that is drawn from elite campuses in India and abroad, and focused on our mission to develop world class data products.

We’re looking for a Director of Software Engineering to join the Capital One Software team!
As a Director of Software Engineering, What You’ll Do:
Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and teams of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices, and full stack systems to create robust, cloud native, resilient, and highly scalable solutions for customers in Data Management and Security domains.
Setup a framework to inculcate new ideas. Leveraging the state-of-the-art innovations and technologies to curate a continual stream of incubated projects and create proof of concepts.
Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and from time to time, be asked to code or evaluate code
Lead, manage, and grow multiple teams of SaaS foundational capability focused software & data engineers. Build a high performance, nimble organization and core tech capabilities for rapid product prototypes
Lead the way in creating next-generation talent for Tech, mentoring internal talent and actively recruiting external talent to bolster Capital One’s Tech talent
Role models and mentors, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community
Collaborate with architects and product managers, and deliver robust and resilient cloud-based solutions with microservices-driven architecture that drive powerful experiences to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment
Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions
Utilize programming languages like Java, Python, GoLang, Rust, C++ and SQL, Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS/GCP/Azure tools and services
Deep technical expert and thought leader that help accelerate adoption of the very best engineering practices, while maintaining knowledge on industry innovations, trends and practices
Serve as an engineering expert, problem solver, and solutioner to our engineering teams in the cloud space
Visionaries, collaborating on Capital One’s toughest issues, to deliver on business needs that directly impact the lives of our customers and associates

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
At least 12+ years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply) in one or more of the following: GoLang, Java, Python, Lua, React, NGINX, Rust, or C++
At least 3 year experience with one or more cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, Azure
At least 4 years of people management experience
At least 1 year of experience with containerization technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree
12+ years of experience in software engineering.
At least 3 years experience specifically in two or more: GoLang, Java, Python, Lua, React, Nginx, Rust, or C++
5+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
2+ years of experience with containerization technologies such as Kubernetes
4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
7+ years of people management experience including building teams ground up
3+ years of experience in Data Management or Data Security
2+ years of experience in Agile practices
