Director of Special Projects

Reports To: Executive Director

Location: 145 Pacific Avenue Office

Hours of Work: Full-time (35 hours per week)

Purpose

The Director of Special Projects (DSP) is a vital leadership position at the MASRC, focused on developing and supporting specialized initiatives that align with the organization’s strategic priorities. This includes advancing sports and recreation programs, promoting gender equity, engaging with Indigenous communities, and contributing to reconciliation efforts through sport.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement specialized projects and initiatives, emphasizing youth engagement and Indigenous participation.
Lead efforts aligned with TRC Calls to Action #87–91 to utilize sport as a cultural practice for education and community healing.
Develop programming to enhance access and inclusion for women and girls in sports and recreation.
Assist the Executive Director with administrative tasks, including grant writing and strategic planning.
Build partnerships and represent MASRC in communications with various stakeholders.
Supervise staff and oversee projects in the Executive Director's absence.
Ensure all program activities are documented and comply with funder requirements.
Qualifications

Post-secondary education in Indigenous Studies, Sport Administration, Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in sport development or project management.
Experience in community engagement, especially with Indigenous communities, is preferred.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Valid Class 5 driver's license and required Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening and Child Abuse Registry Check upon hiring.
Ability to travel within Manitoba and work evenings/weekends as needed.
Commitment to promoting Indigenous health, wellness, and community development through sport.
