Job Title: Director of Strategic Initiatives
Reports To: CEO
Location: Pune, India
Job Summary:
As the Director of Strategic Initiatives at Anchanto, based in Pune, India, you will be responsible for leading and owning strategic initiatives from inception to implementation ensuring successful delivery and effective handover to relevant teams.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's future by driving the planning, execution, and evaluation of strategic projects across various functional areas. Additionally, you will be responsible for process definition, success measurement, setting success criteria, and conducting strategic planning and analysis. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, business acumen, and a proven track record of successfully delivering complex initiatives aligned with business strategy. We prefer candidates from IIMs and IITs with a minimum of 10 years of prior experience in start-ups scaling, management consulting, strategy management, or project management.
Responsibilities:
• Strategic Planning and Analysis
• Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and industry trend assessments to inform strategic decision-making.
• Provide insights and recommendations to the CEO and senior leadership on strategic opportunities, risks, and potential impact on the business
• Contribute to the development and refinement of the company's long-term strategic plans and initiatives.
• Strategic Initiative Execution
• Identify and evaluate key strategic opportunities for the company, aligned with organizational goals and business strategy. Develop and refine strategic initiatives and projects that support the company's growth objectives.
• Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines. Coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders to execute strategic initiatives effectively.
• Monitor progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery. Conduct post-initiative evaluations to assess outcomes, capture lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement.
• Stakeholder Management
• Collaborate closely with the CEO, executive leadership team, business unit heads, and key stakeholders to align strategic initiatives with overall business objectives.
• Engage and influence stakeholders at all levels to gain support, commitment, and resources for strategic projects.
• Foster strong relationships with external partners, clients, and vendors to facilitate collaboration and leverage opportunities.
• Handover to Relevant Teams
• Work closely with relevant teams to ensure a smooth handover of completed initiatives for seamless integration into business-as-usual operations.
• Provide necessary guidance and support to the teams during the handover process.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer and training to ensure the successful transition and sustainability of initiatives.
• Process Definition
• Define and document processes and workflows associated with strategic initiatives to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure process alignment and adoption.
• Continuously evaluate and improve processes to drive operational excellence.
• Success Measurement and Criteria Setting
• Establish clear success criteria for strategic initiatives, aligned with organizational goals.
• Define and implement performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of initiatives.
• Regularly monitor and analyse performance data to assess the achievement of success criteria and drive necessary actions for improvement.
• Leadership and Team Management:
• Lead and mentor a team of project managers (one year down the line) and analysts, providing guidance, coaching, and support. Foster a high-performance culture, promoting teamwork, collaboration, and innovation.
• Set clear objectives, track performance, and provide regular feedback to team members.
• Identify talent gaps and implement strategies to attract, develop, and retain top talent
Qualifications and prior experiences:
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a related field. MBA preferred, preferably from IIMs.
• Prior experience of at least 10 years in start-ups scaling, management consulting, strategy management, or project management.
• Proven experience in driving strategic initiatives and managing complex projects, preferably in a fast-paced technology or e-commerce environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Exceptional leadership abilities, with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
• Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results.
