The opportunity
Exciting opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative team of global Growth Equity investors as a Director within the Portfolio Solutions Group (PSG) focused on Value Creation initiatives. PSG is focused on driving cross-asset class initiatives to help OTPP portfolio companies thrive.
This role brings a top-down, portfolio-wide perspective on our investing activities and activities to support our portfolio companies through financing events. It involves hands-on participation to ensure we deliver the best outcomes for the portfolio in terms of returns, liquidity, and risk utilization. The role would primarily work with OTPP’s Venture Growth arm (TVG) but include building cross-asset capabilities and perspectives on exits for PSG.
With both an investment and strategic lens, the candidate leverages excellent capital raising experience with tech-oriented growth companies. The candidate can devise investment strategies and generate insights that drive investment and value-creation decision-making for tech-focused portfolios.
Who you'll work with
Reporting to the Head of Value Creation for TVG you will work closely with the head of PSG, TVG and TVG’s EMD. You will also work closely with the TVG and Equities Senior Leadership team, investment teams, and the Total Fund as needed.
What you'll do
Elevate investment insights across the TVG portfolio and sectors.
Provide top-down analytics to support investment decision-making and trade-offs across sector, stage, and geography.
Deliver enhanced data mining from TVG funds and other sources within OTPP to detect emerging trends.
Enable forward-looking investment guidance based on real-time data.
Integrate portfolio construction considerations into the investment diligence process and IC decision-making.
Enhance TVG investment capabilities with data and analytics insights across sectors, geographies, and the investment lifecycle.
Streamline reporting and forecasting processes to enable more automation and seamless integration.
Focus on exit/liquidity strategies to provide systematic access to capital.
Work with Value Creation and senior leadership to identify exit opportunities and optimize value protection.
Build a network of secondary investors, funds, and advisors to identify liquidity opportunities.
Take an active approach to realize exits, including strategic acquisition or positioning for sale to Private Equity buyers.
Develop a network of potential co-investors and advise portfolio companies on investor introductions.
Lead discussions around analytics and execution of exit strategies.
Provide value-added insights across the TVG and OTPP Portfolio and contribute to key strategic documents and analysis.
Monitor the portfolio from the perspective of exits and investment strategy.
Lead workstreams with portfolio companies and deal teams regarding liquidity.
Develop liquidity strategies, networks, and playbooks
What you'll need
Minimum 10 years of experience in tech investing, research, or portfolio management
Capable of formulating long-term investment strategies aligned with organizational goals.
Proficiency in conducting thorough market research, analyzing data, and identifying trends.
Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation techniques, and risk assessment.
Direct experience executing transactions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting findings and recommendations.
Experience leading a team and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
M&A knowledge, fluency and execution capabilities
