About the Role
The Local Area Coordinator is responsible for assisting people with disabilities to build and pursue their goals, exercise choice and control, and navigate the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Key Responsibilities:
Working closely with people with disabilities to assess their eligibility for NDIS supports.
Connecting people with disabilities to local community resources and services.
Assisting participants in understanding and utilizing the supports in their NDIS plan.
Improving community knowledge of the NDIS and creating opportunities for participants to access services and support.
Meeting identified contractual KPIs.
Requirements:
Relevant experience and/or lived experience in supporting people with disabilities.
Experience in supporting people to achieve collaborative outcomes.
Knowledge of the local community and available options for social and economic participation for people with disability.
Computer skills, including capability with Microsoft Office 365.
Ability to work within a performance-based culture.
Working with Children Card and/or vulnerable people check; PEP and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance; and successful completion of NDIA entry level checks.
