About the Role

Joining our Supported Independent living team in Riverwood on a casual basis, you will support 4 people who are looking for candidates who are empathetic, communicate clearly (bonus if you can speak any Russian!), enjoy going out into the community with them (particularly to shop at the reject shop), talking about trains, watching police related TV shows and have an interest in Aboriginal culture and history.

To provide best support you will be enthusiastic about providing active support and being involved in their day to day activities and have experience in or be willing and confident to be trained in 2:1 manual handling, meal management processes, stoma care, epilepsy management and midazolam training and AUSLAN/Sign Language.

The successful candidate must be able to commit to a variety of casual shifts across a 24/7 roster including active nights, weekends and public holiday shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Provide personal care (including Stoma Care)

Assist in 2:1 Transfers/Manual Handling

Follow person-centred support and behaviour plans

Facilitate client goal achievement through meaningful activities

Maintain thorough record keeping

Build positive relationships with clients, families and colleauges

Advocate for client choice and control

Skills & Experience

Experience working with people with psychosocial disability

Previous experience working with behaviour support plans

Experience with personal care, including bowel and Stoma care

An unrestricted Australian driver’s licence

A current First Aid and CPR Certificate

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including a National Criminal History Record Check and obtain an NDIS Clearance.
