About the Role

Glencoe Institute of Higher Education invites expressions of interest from qualified and experienced academic professionals to join our collaborative team as a Discipline Coordinator. This senior academic role is responsible for the coordination, quality assurance, and effective delivery of subjects within an assigned discipline, ensuring alignment with the Higher Education Standards Framework (HESF 2021), the ESOS Act 2000, and TEQSA requirements. The role plays a key part in maintaining academic standards, supporting teaching and learning quality, and contributing to the Institute’s governance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Position Summary

The Discipline Coordinator:

Provides academic leadership and coordination across a discipline area, ensuring rigorous, consistent, and compliant subject delivery and assessment.
Supports the implementation of academic policies and quality assurance processes, including assessment moderation, academic integrity, and student progression monitoring.
Collaborates with the Dean, Academic Board, Teaching & Learning Committee, and academic staff to enhance curriculum relevance, graduate outcomes, and student engagement.
Contributes to accreditation, internal reviews, and TEQSA monitoring activities, ensuring alignment with regulatory and governance frameworks.
Mentors academic staff, fosters a culture of scholarly practice, and promotes ethical, inclusive, and innovative teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate the academic delivery of subjects within the assigned discipline, ensuring alignment with approved course and subject outlines.
Support the implementation and consistent application of academic policies relating to assessment, moderation, progression, academic integrity, and scholarly activity.
Oversee assessment design, marking, and moderation processes to ensure fairness, consistency, and alignment with learning outcomes.
Monitor student academic performance and progression trends within the discipline and contribute to early intervention and improvement strategies, including identifying and escalating academic risk indicators for international students in accordance with ESOS requirements.
Contribute to course and subject review processes, including the development, amendment, or review of curriculum documentation.
Ensure prescribed and recommended learning resources are current, accessible, and available to students prior to each teaching period.
Promote a culture of academic integrity, ethical scholarship, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in learning and assessment, consistent with the Institute’s policies and procedure.
Provide discipline-level academic advice and reports to the Dean, Teaching & Learning Committee, and Academic Board as required.
Support the preparation of evidence and documentation for accreditation, reaccreditation, internal reviews, audits, and TEQSA monitoring activities, including discipline-level evidence relevant to ESOS compliance and international student academic outcomes.
Contribute to the identification and management of academic risks at the discipline level, escalating issues to the Dean as appropriate.
Support and mentor academic staff through guidance on teaching practice, assessment standards, moderation, and professional development.
Engage with industry and professional stakeholders, where relevant, to support curriculum relevance and graduate employability.
Contribute positively to the Institute’s academic culture, reputation, and commitment to continuous improvement.
Selection Criteria

Essential Requirements

Doctoral-level qualification in a relevant discipline area (Accounting, Information Systems, Hospitality Management and Marketing).
Demonstrated experience in teaching and assessment within an Australian higher education or regulated tertiary environment.
Sound understanding of academic governance, quality assurance, and assessment moderation processes.
Working knowledge of the HESF 2021 and academic integrity requirements.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate curriculum delivery and support consistent academic standards.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
Demonstrated commitment to academic integrity, ethical practice, equity, and inclusion.
Appointment is subject to appropriate probity and integrity checks in accordance with the Institute’s policies and procedures.
Desirable Attributes

Experience in subject or course coordination within a higher education provider.
Experience contributing to course review, accreditation, or quality assurance activities.
Experience working in a non-university higher education provider.
Evidence of ongoing scholarly or professional activity relevant to the discipline.
