About the role
The City of Sydney, one of Australia’s premier Councils, has an opportunity for an experienced and versatile records and information management practitioner with a positive attitude to become part our Data & Information Management Services Unit in the Document Services Team.

This position's primary responsibilities are to register and assign incoming correspondence, scan and check documents, create electronic and hard copy files as required, organise the operational aspects of the offsite file retrieval process and conduct quality audits and re-boxing projects, all within tight timeframes. The Document Officer will be expected to be across all functions of the team (including mailroom duties) to allow uninterrupted service delivery to both external and internal stakeholders. Manual handling in regard to the handling of boxes of records and mail items is required.

The successful candidate will have:

Industry recognised professional training in records and information management or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated understanding and experience of current record management principles and practices in government agencies.
Experience in using TRIM Content Manager, or an equivalent Electronic Document and Records Management System to capture and manage physical and digital records.
Demonstrated ability to learn detailed processes effectively.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
Willingness to perform higher grade duties when required. Supervisor and/or training experience will be highly regarded.



This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
