UNICEF is the global authority on children's rights. No other organisation has our experience, expertise and reach. For over 70 years, we've been working to protect the rights of children in over 1+0 countries and territories around the world.

We fight for every child's right to survive and thrive into adulthood. Our mission is to create a better world, by advocating for the protection of children's rights. To do this, we bring people together: governments, donors, humanitarian agencies, businesses and children themselves. This is what we do, every day, for all children around the world. We are on the lookout for a Donor Retention Specialist to join the Individual Giving team and ensure a smooth donor experience through personalised communication and donor growth and engagement initiatives.

We are looking for someone to be based preferably in Auckland, but candidates from Wellington and Christchurch are also welcome to apply.

As the Donor Retention Specialist, you will be hands-on in executing, engaging, retaining and developing strong relationships with our donors to contribute to the overall success of UNICEF Aotearoa’s fundraising efforts.

Your responsibilities include:

Execute agreed strategies across various channels aimed at increasing donor loyalty, donor engagement and donor lifetime value.
Execute the creation and distribution of impactful donor stories and various donor materials.
Implement agreed donor journey plans and personalised marketing segments
Utilise data analytics to measure the effectiveness of donor impact communication efforts, identifying successful strategies and areas for improvement.
Analyse donor data to understand attrition pain points, assess the efficiency of retention efforts, and identify opportunities for enhancing donor journeys and marketing strategies.
Coordinate logistical arrangements for Individual Giving donor events and/or work with event agencies. Where feasible, seek synergy with other teams, such as the Legacy team or the Strategic Partnerships team, to maximise impact through shared event initiatives.

As the successful candidate, you will have:

Tertiary qualification in relevant field.
3 years of experience in marketing/communications/sales/fundraising.
Demonstrated expertise in copywriting and content creation.
Experience with marketing automations (ideally HubSpot or similar marketing solution).
Design and or photoshop experience preferred.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail, flexibility, and reliability.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Benefits:

Work from home - hybrid model
Flexible arrangements and working hours
Car parking first come first served (Auckland only)

We pride ourselves on our supportive and collaborative team culture, and we are looking for someone who shares our values and is committed to delivering exceptional service to our clients.

UNICEF Aotearoa recognises the partnership between Māori and the Crown founded under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to giving effect to the Treaty. We celebrate our differences, embrace diversity, and value each other.

If this fits with your personal values, professional experience, and you are excited by this opportunity, apply via Seek now!

Applications close on 31st October 2026.
