Role Overview:
If you’re a Drill & Blast Engineer who wants the scope to optimise - rather than simply apply a standard design matrix - Action Drill & Blast is where you’ll thrive. Across multiple commodities and operating environments, you’ll work alongside highly experienced crews and an engineering team that backs practical improvement. You’ll have the autonomy to design, tweak and continuously refine blasts to drive measurable gains in fragmentation, diggability, vibration control, cycle times, and safety performance.
We are currently seeking applications for a project based, Drill & Blast Engineer on a FIFO 8/6 roster.
Key Responsibilities:
Designing drill and blast patterns that achieve optimum, safe blast results and align with cost constraints.
Arranging drill area cleans ups.
On-bench interaction with blast crews.
Preparing blast notifications and distributing sitewide.
Assigning blast guard duties.
Compliance monitoring: Setting up vibration and noise monitoring devices.
Drone Operation and image processing.
Post blast analysis of blast results and capturing and recording all data relating to the blast.
Saving and sending completed blast pack to the client.
Updating all required data systems and spreadsheets.
Scheduling drilling and blasting activities that align with client requirements.
Preparing and presenting weekly drill and blast plan to Stakeholders.
Explosive Stock Control
Supporting, implementing, and maintaining drill and blast-related technologies
Planning and executing project work as directed by your Manager.
Carrying out seed hole analysis, vibration modelling, and VOD testing as required.
Actively looking for and implementing improvements to ADB processes relating to your role.
Participating in AECI meetings.
Attending a variety of locations as directed by your Manager to meet Operational needs.
Compliance with Regulations, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards, and ADB requirements.
Assisting and supporting the Operations Manager, Project Manager and Superintendent.
Analysing data and preparing reports for ADB Senior Management.
Develop a thorough understanding of Action’s system and comply with Action’s Plans, Policies, Standards, and Procedures.
All other duties as directed by your Manager.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor of Mining Engineering degree (or equivalent). Honours will be highly regarded
If not degree qualified, then demonstrated significant professional experience
Minimum 5 years 'in field' experience, ideally shotfiring for a period
WA Shotfiring Licence - current; or able to attain
WA Dangerous Goods Security Card - current; or able to attain
WA Drivers Licence C class – current
Safety Leadership Course (WA Projects Only).
Advanced Computer Skills (Vulcan, blast timing programs, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams).
