Job Description
A driver is responsible for operating various types of vehicles to transport goods, materials, or passengers from one location to another. They are required to follow traffic laws and safety regulations while ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of goods or passengers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate assigned vehicles, such as cars, vans, trucks, or buses, to transport goods or passengers to their destinations.
- Load and unload goods or assist passengers in boarding and disembarking from the vehicle.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes to ensure timely deliveries or pick-ups.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to maintain a safe driving record.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance, including checking oil, fuel, and water levels, as well as tire pressure and brakes.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions or accidents to the appropriate authorities and follow company procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and other relevant information.
- Provide excellent customer service by being courteous, professional, and helpful to passengers or clients.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of goods, ensuring they are properly secured and protected during transportation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, or clients to provide updates on delivery status or any issues encountered during transportation.
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a driver, preferably in a similar role.
- Excellent knowledge of traffic laws, regulations, and safety procedures.
- Ability to operate various types of vehicles, including manual and automatic transmissions.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to ensure timely deliveries.
- Physical stamina to handle loading and unloading of goods, as well as long hours of driving.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with passengers, clients, and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in challenging situations.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.
