Accountabilities:
Operations
Drive the Ministry Unit's van and ensure the safe and careful handling of all deliveries and donations, while protecting property, including donations.
Sort and place donations in designated areas.
Ensure that donations are unloaded from the van by the end of each shift.
Provide customers and donors with courteous and diplomatic service.
Assist with the placement and relocation of donated items in the store when necessary.
Load and transport waste from the thrift stores to the landfill as required, and unload at the landfill.
Load and unload the van when a recycling run for either store is required.
Work in receiving area when not required on van, assisting with receiving and preliminary sorting of incoming donations, placing merchandise in designated areas within the store.
Perform circle checks of van and maintain vehicle logs.
Responsible for daily and overall safety, maintenance, operation of van, as well as records.
Responsible for fueling the van as necessary and ensure it is kept clean and presentable.
Report any vehicle mechanical failures or concerns to the Thrift Store Manager in a timely manner.
Health and Safety
Maintain knowledge of legislative and company policies such as Health and Safety Regulations, Provincial and Municipal Highway Traffic Acts;
Ensure the safe and careful handling and pickup of all deliveries, donations etc. while protecting the property, including donations and van.
Responsible for the following, work in compliance with the Ontario Health & Safety Act and Regulations, use personal prescribed safety equipment and clothing as directed by the employer, report workplace hazards, dangers, injuries or illness, and work in a manner as required by the employer.
Report any safety issues immediately and ensure care is taken with all equipment and property.
Perform other duties related as required.

MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY:
This position reports directly to the Thrift Store Manager or designate
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
Assist with the materials management of donations/product flow in the thrift store.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This is a regular part-time position based on 21 hours per week.
Work environment is typically a program vehicle.
Flexibility in scheduling is required, and schedule may vary according to requirements of responsibilities and may include some weekend work.
Ability to lift/move up to 3+ lbs., and this job requires frequent twisting, bending, crouching, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, lifting and kneeling.
Working environment is typically in the store or on the road conducting deliveries or pickups.
Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.
Required to follow precautionary measures, i.e., universal precautions (COVID precautions), required to wear safety shoes or boots, gloves, hard hat when applicable.
Required to drive and be involved in vehicle-related activities and tasks up to 70% of the time.
