Position Summary:
The Truck Driver will be responsible for the delivery and pick up of products to and from specified locations. Responsibilities will include the correct loading of the straight truck, recording of delivery information and ensuring overall vehicle safety. The Driver will be expected to always operate the delivery vehicle in a safe manner, obeying all rules of the road, and follow all appropriate company policies and procedures. The truck driver will not be required to travel to the US.
CONTRACT START DATE: APRIL 2026
Responsibilities:
Driver is responsible for loading, unloading, preparing, cleaning, and operating a vehicle for delivery duties
Operates delivery vehicles weighing over 1-5 tons and having two or more axles.
Verifies, matches product against paperwork for accuracy, signs off and returns to the appropriate representative.
Ensure all necessary paperwork is accompanied for shipment, attaches waybills to product and keeps copies for sign off by transport drivers or Company drivers in appropriate areas.
Ensure materials are loaded and unloaded in the truck in a safe manner.
Perform pre-trip inspection of vehicle.
Operate vehicle in a safe manner, obeying all rules of the road.
Complies with all company policies and procedures regarding the delivery of goods.
Record information on pick-ups and deliveries, vehicle mileage, fuel costs and any problems encountered.
Reports vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles or Company property.
Checks all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
Maintains logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations.
Communicates effectively with the public, customers, and co-workers both verbally and in written form.
Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure.
Delivers product and proper paperwork to our customers in a courteous and timely manner.
Provides feedback to supervision regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems
Completes all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift. May include, but not limited to, daily logs, inspection logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspection, hours of service, etc.
May need to resolve customer complaints.
Drives forklift to assist with warehouse duties on an as needed basis.
Other duties as required by the business.
Qualifications:
Must have DZ driver’s license with at least 3 years of relevant experience and a proven safety record
Clean Driver’s abstract.
Has completed transport of hazardous goods training
Certified forklift licence is an asset.
Polite and reliable.
Have good written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent time management and punctuality.
Excellent accuracy and organization skills complimented by the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Excellent knowledge of overall warehousing process would be ideal.
Knowledgeable regarding the geography of the Toronto GTA.
Must be able to drive for long periods of time.
High level of personal integrity
Strong work ethic
Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Working Conditions:
Driving in varied weather conditions.
Manufacturing environment.
