Job Description
We are currently seeking a reliable and flexible On-Call Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) to support our infant / toddler/preschool program (0–5 years).
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children and is available on short notice to cover staff absences, sick days, or vacation time.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration and curiosity.
Observe and assess children's progress, providing feedback to parents and team members.
Support children with diverse needs, including working with individuals with disabilities to ensure they receive appropriate care and education.
Foster positive behavior management strategies that promote respect, cooperation, and independence among children.
Collaborate with colleagues to plan activities, organize classroom materials, and maintain daily routines.
Communicate effectively with parents regarding children's progress, behavior, and any concerns.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the classroom in accordance with health and safety standards.
Skills
Prior classroom experience working with young children in early childhood settings.
Knowledge of early childhood education principles and developmentally appropriate practices.
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs is highly desirable.
Strong caregiving skills combined with patience, empathy, and enthusiasm for teaching young learners.
Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, and team members.
Ability to create engaging activities that support diverse learning styles and developmental stages.
Flexibility, creativity, and a genuine passion for early childhood education are essential qualities for success in this role.
Qualifications
Valid ECEA certification (BC)
Current First Aid & CPR
Clear criminal record check
Understanding of infant/toddler development
Ability to work as part of a team and take direction
Availability for on-call shifts (including short-notice calls)

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
