Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year
Tasks
Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers
Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
Work Term: Permanent

INTERMEDIATE TEACHER
Part-time (0.2 FTE) term position
Chartwell Elementary School
Effective September 2, 2025 until June 30, 2026
The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $59,711 to $109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.
Required Qualifications and Experience
A one day per week assignment (Thursdays) is available in the intermediate grade level at Chartwell Elementary. The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:
A clear understanding of the characteristics of the intermediate student and the ability to develop a positive learning environment addressing the intellectual, physical and emotional needs of intermediate students
Demonstrated ability and experience to teach, assess and plan an intermediate program
A wide repertoire of strategies addressing assessment (formative, summative, peer and self)
A proven ability to frame the curriculum and classroom management around equity, diversity, inclusivity, and reconciliation
Knowledge and experience in working with learners with varying needs and support staff; demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction in the classroom
Hold a valid BC teaching certificate
Knowledge and experience in adapting learning objectives and strategies to meet the needs of English Language Learners at varying needs
Strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills and proven ability and commitment to work cooperatively and effectively with other educators
An understanding of the First People's Principles as they relate to the curriculum and our local context
A willingness to support and enhance ADST and innovative learning at the intermediate level
Knowledge and proven experience in the area of technology (the ability to integrate various technologies into the curriculum, modes of assessment, and its use for student adaptations)
Proven ability to create a safe and caring learning environment for students using the principles of social-emotional learning
A strong commitment to positive and consistent engagement and communication with parents and other stakeholders
