Job Description
The Early Childhood relief worker plays an important role in supporting a positive, engaging, and nurturing environment for children. This position provides flexible, on-call support to ensure children continue to receive high-quality care and programming when regular educators are away due to vacation, illness, training, or other absences.
In this role, you will work alongside a supportive team to help deliver fun, meaningful learning experiences for children in integrated settings. You will help bring daily activities to life, support routines, and contribute to a safe, welcoming environment where children feel encouraged to explore, learn, and grow.

Qualifications:
Base Corp orientation course - Level 1
Infant/Child C.P.R. and First Aid updated every 3 years
Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector check
Responsibilities:
Provide on-call and relief coverage for educators during vacations, sick leave, training days, or other staff absences.
Assist and contribute to program planning and implementation for groups and individual children in integrated settings.
Support educators in maintaining daily routines and learning environments when covering shifts.
Follow all agency policies, procedures, and program philosophies.
Assist in supervising children in the classroom, play areas, and during walks or field trips.
Support children’s hygiene routines including bathroom use, diapering, and handwashing.
Assist with snack and meal routines and promote healthy eating practices.
Work collaboratively with team members to maintain consistent care and programming.
Attend workshops and ongoing professional development sessions provided by the center when available.
Adhere to the center's dress code and professional expectations.
Participate in daily cleaning and sanitizing of toys, furniture, equipment, and classroom spaces.
Ensure toys and equipment are safe and in good working condition.
Demonstrate knowledge of the Child Care Licensing Act and general health and safety standards.
Build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and the community.
Support children’s emotional, social, and mental development through positive interactions.
Assist children with washing, dressing, toileting, and eating to encourage independence and skill development.
Maintain accurate documentation including attendance, diapering, meals, naps, and daily reports.
