Sas Natsadle Aboriginal Head Start is seeking a passionate and qualified individual to become part of our dedicated team. Our centre is deeply rooted in the values of culture, community, and early childhood education. We proudly promote and encourage the preservation and sharing of our Nations’ cultures, languages, and traditions.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work with preschool-aged children (3 to 5 years old) in a nurturing and supportive environment that celebrates cultural identity and early learning. Our program accommodates up to 40 children and features an on-site kitchen, where nutritious meals are prepared fresh each day to support the well-being of our little ones.

Position Summary:

The successful applicant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

Collaboratively planning and organizing developmentally appropriate activities for children aged 3 to 5

Leading and supervising children in activities that foster intellectual, physical, emotional, and social growth

Supporting program accountabilities and ensuring children are released only to authorized parents/guardians

Maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment

Supervising children during bus runs and field trips

Leading learning circles and traditional meal preparation

Conducting child assessments and maintaining observation records

Supporting the Kindergarten Readiness Program

Performing other related duties as directed by the Head Start Program Coordinator

Work Schedule:

Centre hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

30-minute unpaid lunch break

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

A current Early Childhood Educator (ECE) or ECE Assistant license to practice

A valid First Aid Certificate

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

A minimum of one year experience working with children under the age of 5

A valid driver’s license

The ability to provide a clear Criminal Record Check

Knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture, traditions, and teachings is considered a strong asset

Compensation:

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and industry standards.
