KU Macquarie Fields Preschool operates as a 40-place preschool, Monday to Friday catering to children 3 to 6 years of age. The preschool is in Southwest Sydney and has a long-standing commitment to research, inclusion and community connection, and is celebrated as an integral component of the community for over 40 years. The preschool is fully utilised and champions a diverse demographic that consists of a high proportion of children with additional needs, children, and families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and an increasing number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families. Many families enrolled at KU Macquarie Fields are identified as vulnerable and experiencing disadvantage. A specific focus of the team is the relationships nurtured and consolidated with local community and the sensitivity and respect for cultural diversity and inclusion support. Educator practice is grounded in relational learning and the quality of daily interactions. Each educator is cognisant of building secure connections with the children in their care. They strive to support children to develop skills towards building attachments and friendships with adults and peers and extend a pedagogy of hospitality to families that ensures they feel welcome and a sense of belonging.

Early learning environments speak to children’s diverse abilities. Carefully considered environments encourage the full participation of each child in a play-based learning program that supports and stimulates creative and individual pursuits as well as structured learning. The environments and experiences are designed to ensure the learning and development of each child across all domains of learning. Environments are responsive to the strengths and emerging capabilities of individual children. The children with high learning support needs have constant and ongoing support. Preschool Disability Inclusion Funding is utilised for additional adult support to ensure children with specific challenges can successfully engage in learning opportunities alongside their peers.

A commitment to ongoing professional learning has contributed to the capacities and collective vision of the team. The Role

KU Macquarie Fields Preschool is seeking a dynamic, bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teacher to join our vibrant team in a part-time permanent position. This rewarding role will see you working on Thursdays and Fridays, with 7.6 hours per day.

Of course, you will need:

Relevant experience
An ACCEQA recognised Early Childhood Teaching degree,
Current First Aid and CPR certificates and approved Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management certificates
Active NESA Teacher Accreditation,
Completed training in Child Protection legislation and its implications for the care and protection of children,
Current Working with Children Check
Sound understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law (2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011),
