At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens, we have over 110 kindergartens across the regions we serve, bringing learning, connection, and fun to families across Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Kapiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt, Wairarapa and South Otago. We also provide a home-based service - Etu Ao in Porirua and Levin.

More than 6,000 children now attend one of Whānau Manaaki's 110 kindergartens and around 150 children are enrolled with our Pasifika-focused Etu Ao homebased service.
Community Description
Nestled between the bush and sea in the charming suburb of Eastbourne, our kindergarten is a beautiful villa that offers tamariki and their whānau a home-like setting for learning and growth. The team is deeply committed to sustainability, and they actively engage ngā tamariki with the community, beach, and bush, fostering a love for nature and the environment.
The local village area is vibrant and full of life, boasting cozy cafes, a well-stocked library, inspiring art galleries, a swimming pool, parks, and several boutique shops. With three other Early Childhood Education services in the area, you'll be part of a supportive and collaborative community of educators.
The local families are professional, motivated, and community-oriented, with high expectations for their children's education. This is reflected in the high level of parental involvement in the kindergarten environment, creating a strong and supportive network for both teachers and students.
The kindergarten is licensed for 42 children who attend for 6 hours each day. You will join a dedicated team of 4 other teachers who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners.
This is a fixed term to cover a vacancy at this Kindergarten which will commence asap and finish 18 December 2026.
This is a fulltime role worked Monday to Friday -8.00am to 4.30pm
We are looking for an enthusiastic ECE kaiako who:
Is passionate about teaching and learning, thrives when working within a teaching team, has great communication skills, is flexible/adaptable and has a fun disposition.
Demonstrates a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and continues to build tikanga, te reo Māori and caring for Papatūānuku into their daily practice.
Has strengths in following systems and processes and a proven pedagogical knowledge and understanding around planning, assessment and reviews of practice.
Actively promotes an environment where the diversity and uniqueness of all tamariki is accepted and valued, and is responsive to all the cultures, languages and identities within our learning community.
Has a love of learning and a commitment to continuing to grow their teaching practice through professional development, reflective and evaluative practice and engagement in our professional growth cycle.
