We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced writer or journalist to join our team in a newly created role.

As an independent and industrious candidate, you’ll help us deliver compelling economic and industry content. Working within ‘The Real Economy’ project team, and collaborating closely with the programme lead, UK economist, junior economist and senior analysts, you’ll play an important role in helping the wider firm reach its goals while contributing to one of the firms key strategic pieces.

Who we are looking for

RSM is looking for a capable and motivated content specialist to join the Integrated Marketing and Communications team to help build our economic thought leadership content, known as ‘The Real Economy’. We are seeking someone with considerable experience in producing long form written content who can drive the production of clear and original content for our audiences.

As this is a new role, you will need to be a self-starter with an ability to identify relevant and interesting stories for our readers based on market conditions, be comfortable working independently, able to challenge senior stakeholders and adopt to our firm’s tone of voice.

What can you expect?

Reporting into the programme lead, your main responsibilities will be to lead on producing regular innovative thought leadership reports and articles for a variety of audiences, and to support the UK economist and senior analysts in curating regular economic and industry updates.

As this is a new role, you will need to be confident in carving out processes and workstreams for yourself, with the support of the project team. While this role will be primarily responsible for written copy, there will be opportunities to work across different channels, such as podcasting, video and live events.

Personal and professional qualities

8 years’ experience in high calibre journalism, content production or publishing environments.
A degree in English, communications, editorial, or journalism would be ideal, but applicants with the equivalent experience will be considered.
Considerable experience of delivering engaging and compelling content for tailored audiences across a variety of digital formats.
Up to date awareness of market conditions and trends.
Ability to translate technical content into engaging messages.
Excellent critical thinking skills.
A team player, who is comfortable under pressure and able to build relationships with a variety of departments.
Excellent stakeholder management, with confidence to speak to stakeholders at all levels and manage multiple layers of feedback.
Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
Comfortable working in a hybrid environment.
