Join our dynamic communications team to help the world transition towards clean energy. The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) is seeking a talented Editor and Copywriter to support our Australia research team to produce high-quality, accurate, influential and timely content focusing on the energy and finance sectors.
This includes improving the flow and language of publications, making them easily understandable by a wide audience, providing quality assurance on references, and ensuring that all publications adhere to IEEFA’s editorial standards. The Editor will also provide copywriting support by developing text for media releases, social media posts and stakeholder outreach emails.
We are looking for a self-motivated multitasker who can work independently without continuous supervision. Working as part of a remote team in Australia, the ideal candidate will be expected to be able to communicate effectively with other members of the team over a variety of mediums (Zoom, G-suite, ClickUp, etc.), be comfortable with raising issues or questions along the way, and provide insights into your work.
IEEFA is an NGO/ not-for-profit that conducts research and analysis on financial and economic issues related to energy markets, trends, and policies. Headquartered in the United States, IEEFA has a team of 70+ analysts and communications personnel located in 15 countries across the globe. IEEFA produces a significant volume of original research, as well as ongoing analysis and reports on issues affecting energy industries. Responsibilities
Edit content and maintain the quality of IEEFA publications, including reports, commentaries, public submissions, fact sheets, presentations and media releases
Copy-edit for structure, clarity and economy, grammar and punctuation, and overall readability
Follow editorial policies and standards, ensuring the accuracy and quality of all content in multiple formats and media (including thorough checking of research annotations and referencing)
Collaborate with analysts who authored the publications to co-develop commentaries, fact sheets and presentations based on existing publications
Proofread and review of work from other editors
Develop text for media releases, social media posts and stakeholder outreach emails to support and promote edited reports
Support the Managing Editor and greater communications team in facilitating the publication process, which may include updating project management systems, maintaining good “housekeeping” standards for documentation, and uploading publications to the IEEFA website
Commitment to IEEFA’s mission to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable, diverse and profitable energy economy

Required Qualifications
1-4 years of editing and copywriting experience
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and experience
Strong command of language, grammar and style, with proven ability to edit, write, review and proofread clear, engaging and accurate content
Skilled in planning, organising and managing multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining quality and attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to communicate clearly, build trust, and work effectively across teams and stakeholders
Commitment to IEEFA’s mission to accelerate the transition to a diverse, sustainable and profitable economy
Preferred Qualifications
Strong interest in current affairs in Australia, particularly in the energy and finance sectors
Experience working for a research organisation or advocacy organisation
Compensation and Benefits
Full-time employment contract with remuneration A$74,500 to A$90,000 base, plus super. Our competitive benefits package includes annual leave (20 days per year), personal/carer’s leave (10 days per year), a Professional Development Allowance, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a home office set-up stipend, a monthly mobile phone allowance, and technology equipment provided.
Work Schedule
Full-time, 38 hours/week, with occasional evening or weekend work as required.
Location and Travel
The Editor and Copywriter will work remotely and may be based anywhere in Australia. Some travel is required. All global team members attend IEEFA’s annual conference and international team retreat. Quarterly in-person team meetings alternate between Sydney and Melbourne.
Physical Demand and Work Environment.
Must be able to work for prolonged periods at a computer. Computer work can involve repetitive motion, eyestrain, back and neck strain.
