Job Description
The Education Assistant is responsible for working with individual or small groups of youth who need assistance and to enhance the learning process. The Education Assistant should be committed to Sanctuary practice utilizing tools that reinforce our shared language to create a trauma-responsive culture.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist teachers prepare lesson plans.
Set up the necessary material for lessons.
Track student attendance.
Review material taught with individual youth who need additional assistance.
Work with smaller groups of youth to reinforce the learning process.
Escort and supervise youth in field trips and educational activities.
Ensure learning areas are safe and tidy before classes start.
Assist teachers with various tasks as needed and requested.
Utilize appropriate agency approved behavior management techniques in the learning area.
Provide support to the office and program for other needs such as transportation, flight arrangements as needed.
Utilize personal safety plan for managing emotions and interactions with staff and clients.
Qualifications:
At least 21 years old.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school. Prefer minimum of one year of experience in educational environment.
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
Should be able to follow oral and written instructions.
Adequate training or experience required to perform tasks assigned.
Display the motivation and desire to learn and develop advanced skills.
Computer skills with the ability to learn new instructional computer programs.
Able to show proof of required vaccinations/immunizations.
