Position Overview
The Division of Rehabilitation Services is searching to hire an Educator Aide to provide educational, social and emotional support to visually impaired students at Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI) as directed by the ISVI Principals and Educator in alignment with the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and related services. This position maintains flexibility in day-to-day work to meet the operational needs of the school under the direction of the ISVI Principals. The Educator Aide assists teacher with paperwork such as reports (report cards, Individualized Educator Program (IEP’s) goals and data collection and Skyward discipline reports). The incumbent attends field trips/outings and monitors student’s activities at school related assemblies.
Essential Functions
Provides educational support to visually impaired students in specified academic, social, and emotional areas as directed by the Educator and the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI).
Maintains flexibility in day-to-day work to meet the operational needs of the school under the direction of the ISVI Principals.
Assists teacher with paperwork such as reports (report cards, Individualized Educator Program (IEP’s) goals and data collection and Skyward discipline reports).
Attends field trips/outings and monitors student’s activities at school related assemblies.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires possession of a current, valid ISBE Educator License with Stipulations with Paraprofessional Educator (ELS-PARA) endorsement; OR possession of a current, valid ISBE Professional Educator License (PEL).
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of professional experience working with the diverse needs presented by visually impaired students and visually impaired students with identified secondary disabilities.
Two (2) years of professional experience utilizing classroom methods and procedures to support, assist and direct students to accomplish educational objectives.
One (1) year of professional experience in computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite.
One (1) year of professional experience assisting educators with student paperwork such as reports, report cards, Individualized Educator Program (IEP’s) goals and data collection and Skyward discipline reports and with development of materials for educators.
One (1) year of professional experience maintaining effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents.
Conditions of Employment
Requires ability to move, lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Requires the ability to climb stairs and walk for extended periods on a shift.
Requires ability to flex schedule based on operational need determined by ISVI Administration.
Must meet Illinois School for the Visually Impaired health and safety requirements.
Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

Work Hours: Mon-Fri, 7:45am-3:45pm, 30 minute unpaid lunch.
