The Role
Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance Systems Division (GWEOSD), is seeking an exceptional EL 1 Engineering Professional Manager to join our dynamic team in Aerospace Explosive Ordnance Systems Program Office (AEOSPO).

As an EL 1 Engineering Professional Manager working within GWEOSD, you will be given the unique opportunity to work within a diverse team to deliver Australian Defence Force systems that are at the leading edge of Defence Capability.

You will use your excellent stakeholder, coordination and analysis skills to control and govern multiple high profile, complex projects. Every day will be different as you embrace opportunities to:

Lead, plan and deliver project-engineering activities applying engineering concepts, principles and methodologies.
Provide experience and accurate engineering, program monitoring and controlling advice and solutions for risks and opportunities.
Investigating, analyse and report on explosive ordnance engineering defects, requirements, develop and implement recommendations and advice to address issues.
Support and mentor team members; aligning complementary skills and allocating resources in a manner that delivers results.
Actively managing key stakeholder relationships and expectations to develop and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes.
Exercising assigned engineering authorities and any Technical Regulatory Authority delegations.

This position will be required to access US export controlled materiel and therefore applicants will be requested to disclose any dual citizenship with another country during the recruitment process. Dual citizens may be subject to further assessment and appointment to this position will be conditional upon approval to access US controlled export material in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

AEOSPO is an integral part of Explosive Materiel Branch (EMB), which is part of the new Guided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance Systems Division (GWEOSD). Our team is made up of various disciplines (including engineering, project management, commercial, logistics, and corporate enabling services). We are located in ACT, NSW, VIC and QLD and our focus is to acquire and sustain guided weapons and munitions for the Australian Defence Force.

Our Ideal Candidate
As an EL 1 Engineering Professional Manager, you will be accountable, under broad direction, to perform and achieve complex tasks meeting Defence expectations.

You will exercise both initiative and sound professional judgment in applying the appropriate practices and procedures as required. Your communication and organisational skills in managing stakeholder engagement will be highly desirable for ensuring your stakeholders are intelligently informed in relation to difficult issues.

Outstanding time management and organisational skills, while remaining resilient and adaptable to changing plans and priorities. You will be able to work effectively independently and provide leadership of teams.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, and be comfortable engaging, negotiating and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders while building and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships.
Strong analytical and research skills and an ability to interpret and apply legislation in defining business requirements.
Experience in leading a team to deliver high quality engineering activities, including producing detailed engineering reports and artefacts, presenting information and advice to inform executive decision making.
