Director, Governance Training & Tradecraft
As the Director, Governance Training & Tradecraft, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and continuous improvement, to ensure AUSTRAC's intelligence capabilities remain resilient and future ready. You will steer the development and implementation of intelligence tradecraft and training, ensuring that our teams are highly equipped with the skills and knowledge to combat financial crime effectively. You will also manage divisional policies and governance standards, ensuring our operations meet the highest standards for oversight by the Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security (IGIS). Your leadership will be pivotal in ensuring the future integrity and resilience of Australia's intelligence capabilities.

Director, Intelligence Products & Coordination
As the Director, Intelligence Products & Coordination, you will lead two critical work streams within AUSTRAC’s Intelligence Division: Requests and Disclosures and Production Reporting. Your team will be responsible for managing the flow of incoming intelligence requests and outgoing intelligence products, ensuring that AUSTRAC’s intelligence outputs are of exceptional quality. You will collaborate with both domestic and international partners, fostering strong relationships that drive excellence and innovation across our intelligence products. Your leadership will be crucial in shaping AUSTRAC’s intelligence outputs and positioning AUSTRAC as a trusted source.

Director, Taskforces
As the Director, Taskforces, you will lead AUSTRAC’s efforts to disrupt criminal enterprises through financial intelligence. In this role, you will lead a directorate that collaborates closely with a broad range of national and international stakeholders, to expand the financial intelligence picture and disrupt criminal enterprises domestically and globally. You'll be steering AUSTRAC's efforts to combat Serious Organise Crime Coordination Commitee (SOCCC) designated priorities. Your leadership will be crucial in promoting AUSTRAC's unique value in national multi-agency taskforces, ensuring our capability remains integral to the fight against crime.

About the teams
You'll be leading high-performing teams where your insights will shape, influence and inform the strategic direction of the Intelligence Division. You'll work side by side with passionate, like-minded colleagues who share your drive in safeguarding Australia from financial crime. You'll challenge our thinking, engage in lively discussions, brainstorming sessions and have the opportunity to connect with colleagues who are world-leading experts in their fields.

Position Duties
While each Director will focus on different areas depending on their section, the Director, Intelligence encompasses a range of key duties including:

Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire diverse teams across various states and territories, ensuring optimal performance in line with AUSTRAC's strategic priorities. Manage team operations in taskforces, financial intelligence tradecraft, and intelligence production.
Operational Oversight & Capacity Building: Drive the operational capacity and capability of AUSTRAC’s intelligence functions, including taskforces, tradecraft development, and intelligence dissemination. Ensure alignment with AUSTRAC’s Corporate Plan, AUSTRAC's Intelligence Strategic priorities and governance requirements.
International & Domestic Intelligence Coordination: Lead and manage international exchanges and domestic intelligence requests, ensuring timely and responsive intelligence outputs
Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain key relationships with domestic and international partners, enhancing intelligence flows and collaboration. Facilitate engagement and partnerships with stakeholders, national taskforces, partner agencies, and international intelligence communities to combat crime across the breadth of serious and organise crime times.
Strategic Decision-Making & Governance: Inform and implement strategic priorities, processes, and standards in alignment with global best practices and governance frameworks. Ensure compliance with oversight bodies, such as the Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security (IGIS).
Intelligence Production & Reporting: Oversee the production and continuous improvement of AUSTRAC’s intelligence product suite. Manage customer engagement, performance evaluation, and reporting processes to deliver high-quality intelligence outputs.
Representation & Advocacy: Represent AUSTRAC in national and international forums, inter-agency meetings, and media interactions, promoting the agency’s role in combatting serious and organised crime.
Financial & Governance Management: Maintain financial management and governance within the business unit, ensuring compliance with agency and government requirements.
Advisory & Strategic Contributions: Provide timely advice to senior executives, Ministers, and key stakeholders, and contribute to broader AUSTRAC initiatives where needed. Lead strategic development and establishing of standards, processes and procedures to ensure the continual evolution of financial intelligence analytical tradecraft.

Fill roles across a range of teams across the Intelligence Division,
Fill any similar vacancies which may become available in any of the locations listed in the advertisement, and
Build a merit pool for future roles in the next 18 months.
The merit pools established from this recruitment process will be valid for 18 months from the date of advertising. This merit pool may be used throughout this period to fill similar positions in the event positions become vacant.
