Hybrid Working
We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We're flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. Introduction
Help the bank improve the digital experience of its colleagues by connecting them with the right information and actions. Automate the communications between employees and the operations that enable them, thus unlocking the productivity of our operations teams.
You will accomplish this by understanding the actions that our colleagues perform on a day to day basis along with the associated inquiries that come to our operations teams and programming a chatbot / virtual agent to satisfy those inquiries, providing a best in class experience to our colleagues.
You will be contributing to the Barclays Enterprise Employee Experience (Be@Barclays), a unifying colleague engagement layer that will deliver a seamless experience across the various journeys of the organization, solving for colleague's challenges on not being able to efficiently perform their tasks.
What will you be doing?
• Defining data structures and mapping for elastic indices
• Writing and tuning the DSL queries using relevancy, boost and other Apache Lucene features.
• Implement Elastic builds of schemas, indexes, templates, shards, and refined searches
• Processing, Parsing and indexing large data from existing application databases
• Integrating with disparate systems to retrieve the data
• Providing ballpark estimates based on high level requirements
• Effectively engaging with Run the bank teams to resolve problem tickets leading to a stable application estate
• Delivering high quality code that achieves consistent SQALE A rating with no technical debt
• Contributing to agile ceremonies (planning / stand-ups / retros etc.). Resolve blockers and ensure team is fully productive
What we're looking for:
• 8+ years of overall IT experience with minimum 4 years of strong experience with ELK Stack (Elastic Search, Kibana and Logstash), and Enterprise search
• Strong hands-on experience with Elastic query language/DSL, advanced complex querying
• Experience with Apache Lucene and its complimentary components
• Experience implementing Elastic builds of schemas, indexes, templates, shards, and refined searches
• Strong experience in utilizing various analysers and tokenizers for text analysis
• Experience with managing and monitoring Elasticsearch cluster
• Good understanding of Database design with ability to write complex SQL queries
• Excellent communication skills
• Identifying, analysing, and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets
• Worked on problems of moderate and varied complexity where analysis of data may require adaptation of standardized practices
• Ability to manage multiple assignments
• Demonstrated critical analytical thinking and a great level of curiosity
• Proficient in Software Engineering Techniques, Software Engineering Architecture, Software Engineering Lifecycle and Data Management
• Proven experience of deploying diverse components across varied technology estate on Linux and Windows platforms
• Bachelors/Master's Degree
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Experience in cloud platform with open shift, AWS or Azure
• Experience and knowledge on java stack and API development
• Solid micro services development experience using REST and Spring
• Knowledge of Major RDBMS (e.g., Oracle, MSSQL)
• UNIX experience including shell scripting
• Knowledge of SCM tools like GIT, IDE - Eclipse, IntelliJ
• Knowledge of DevOps, Jenkins, Open shift 4, Kubernetes, SonarQube, Veracode, Maven, Gradle etc.
• Experience in Kafka, Solace and other event streaming platforms
• Knowledge of the Banking/Financial Services domain will be a strong advantage.
• Quick learner: strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to deal with numerous tasks simultaneously and with frequently changing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrable ability to communicate and build relationships with members of the business and technology communities.
• Must be independent and creative in approach to problems and issues; assertive, tenacious, proactive
• Team player, co-operative, and able to work in a large team across multiple locations and time zones.
