About the Role: As a key member of our Engineering team, the Electrical Engineer ensures the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our site’s electrical and instrumentation systems, including high- and low-voltage power distribution networks and automation systems. Your expertise will drive continuous improvement, reduce downtime, improve productivity, and ensure compliance with safety and statutory regulations. You will also empower operational teams through training and coaching, fostering a competent and motivated workforce that contributes to a zero-incident safety culture.

This is a full time (40 hours), permanent salaried role, based at our manufacturing site in Kawerau, Bay of Plenty.

What You Will Do:

Design, develop, and supervise the installation of new electrical and instrumentation systems.
Support and supervise the maintenance of the site’s high-voltage (HV) power distribution network.
Provide support to operational electrical engineers in maintaining low-voltage electrical systems.
Ensure all electrical installations comply with mandatory government regulations and industry standards.
Develop and maintain technical standards and manage service agreements.
Manage electrical capital projects from planning through to completion, ensuring deliverables are technically sound, maintainable, and completed on time and within budget.
Supervise consultants and contractors, and provide leadership during project execution.
Manage and update electrical documentation and systems, ensuring CAD and drawing system accuracy.
Ensure site personnel are competent to operate and maintain electrical systems through coaching, training, and motivation programs.
Promote a positive and proactive safety culture, participate in safety meetings, and ensure compliance with safety and statutory regulations.
Support sustainability plans by identifying and championing opportunities for electrical energy reduction.
Who You Are:

Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) with industrial site experience.
Strong technical expertise in electrical system design, installation, and maintenance.
In-depth knowledge of electrical safety standards, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for coaching and collaboration.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in developing electrical drawings within AutoCAD.
Membership in a professional engineering body.
Experience in Pulp & Paper operations would be advantageous.
Technical expertise in high-voltage systems and experience with automation control systems.
