We are looking for an enthusiastic Electrical Engineer to join our team in Arlington, VA. This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to make a significant impact in the maritime engineering field, working on programs that combine traditional excellence with innovative solutions.
This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance post-employment.
In this role, you will:
• Develop power/control system hardware and software drawings, schematics, test procedures, and specifications while applying relevant industry and regulatory standards, such as ABS SVR, IEEE 45, NFPA, CFR46, and MIL Specifications.
• Create baseline requirements and architecture for New Construction ships based on acquisition and requirements documents.
• Collaborate with vendors and customers to ensure compliance with technical performance specifications.
• Evaluate designs for shipboard machinery control, monitoring systems, and integrate instrumentation and alarm functions.
• Travel onboard naval ships to support the installation or troubleshooting of Power Systems for hardware and software.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
• A Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance post-employment.
• A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in marine fields such as electric propulsion systems, machinery control systems, power generation and distribution systems, or interior communications systems.
• Proficiency in MS Office 2010 (Excel, Word, Outlook), MATLAB, Simulink, and PLC programming.
• The capacity to conduct a ship check at a shipyard or Naval Base.
• Experience in writing requirements and drafting Statements of Work (SOW) and Technical Instructions.
• Familiarity with ABS SVR, IEEE 45, CFR46, NFPA, and MIL specifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
