Job Description
This is a hands-on field-based role responsible for the ongoing maintenance and performance of rural solar systems across the Waikato. You’ll be the key technician on the ground, carrying out site visits, diagnosing issues, completing minor repairs, and ensuring systems are operating safely and efficiently. You’ll also maintain accurate digital records and communicate findings with the wider team. Key Responsibilities:
Carry out scheduled maintenance and performance checks on rural solar systems
Diagnose underperforming systems through site visits and assessments
Complete minor repairs and corrective maintenance work on-site
Ensure all work complies with NZ electrical regulations and AS/NZS standards
Record all activity accurately in online systems and job reports
Communicate findings and recommendations to clients and internal teams
Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and time on site
Identify and escalate recurring or systemic issues
Qualifications
You are a qualified electrician with solar experience who enjoys practical, field-based work and taking ownership of outcomes.
NZ Registered Electrician (or equivalent qualification)
Ideally you will have 2+ years’ experience in solar PV installation or maintenance
Strong understanding of solar systems (inverters, panels, batteries, monitoring)
Solid knowledge of AS/NZS electrical standards
Confident using digital tools for reporting and job management
Self-managing, organised, and comfortable working independently
Full, clean NZ driver’s licence
Rural or off-grid solar experience and familiarity with remote monitoring or field service systems would be advantageous
Ideally exposure to tools like Airtable or Google Workspace
