SSI SCHAEFER is a global leader in modular warehousing and logistics solutions, delivering innovative, industry-specific answers to complex materials handling challenges. With operations spanning six continents, we are at the forefront of automation, engineering, and installation excellence.
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Electrical Resident Technician to join our team and provide hands-on support for a state-of-the-art automated warehouse system. This is a site-based role where you'll work closely with operations and engineering teams to ensure optimal system performance and minimal downtime.
You’ll be the go-to expert on site, playing a critical role in troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement—and be an essential part of a global network of automation professionals.
What You’ll Be Doing
Respond to and resolve breakdowns, support shutdowns, and carry out scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure minimal disruption.
Complete work orders in the CMMS system (Computerised Maintenance Management System) accurately and on time.
Ensure all maintenance and repairs meet OEM standards and AS3000 wiring compliance.
Support the CSS Residential Site Manager and Team Leaders in onboarding and training new technicians on SSI SCHAEFER automated equipment.
Liaise with our international helpdesk and R&D departments to resolve complex technical and design issues.
Provide real-time updates to the CMMS, including fault descriptions, spare part usage, and recommended inventory changes.
Proactively collaborate with the customer’s operations team to maintain a safe, productive, and positive working environment.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Champion a culture of safety and compliance on site at all times.
What You’ll Bring
A current Electrical Licence (mandatory).
Full working rights for Australia.
2+ years of experience in the automation industry, ideally in a similar resident or field service technician role.
Hands-on knowledge of automated warehouse systems, including fault finding on PLC, VSDs, and mechatronic equipment.
Experience using CMMS platforms.
Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Post-trade certification in Pneumatics and Hydraulics (advantageous).
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
The ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals with confidence.
Why Join Us?
At SSI SCHAEFER, we’re not just delivering technology—we’re shaping the future of automation. Join a team where your technical skills make a real difference and where you’ll be supported by global resources and local leadership.
If you're someone who thrives in fast-moving environments and enjoys solving problems on the frontline—this is the role for you.
