Nestled in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, InterContinental Hotel Brisbane will open to guests this winter, offering 321 spacious hotel rooms and suites, all day dining restaurant and lobby bar, outdoor pool, fitness centre and Club Lounge, all in a prime location above Queen Street Mall, perfect for exploring the city’s top attractions. With over 1800 square metres of meeting and events spaces, InterContinental Brisbane offers versatile function rooms and a Grand Ballroom catering for up to 1000 guests, making it a great choice for business and leisure events alike.
The moment a guest steps into our hotel, they walk into a genuinely memorable experience. To facilitate this, we’re now looking for a skilled Electrician, to join our Engineering team, and play a crucial role in maintaining the property's electrical systems to ensure guest safety, comfort, and uninterrupted operations.
A little taste of your day-to-day
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, wiring, lighting, and control systems.
Maintain and service switchboards, circuit breakers, and distribution boards.
Regular testing of safety switches, emergency lighting, RCDs, etc.
Ensure all electrical work complies with AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules) and other relevant standards.
Conduct routine inspections and testing for fire systems and emergency power systems.
Perform routine checks on electrical equipment to prevent failures.
Maintain maintenance logs and update service records.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests or hotel departments.
Work alongside other trades (plumbers, HVAC techs, etc.) and coordinate with the maintenance/facilities team.
Assist with installation of new electrical fixtures, energy-efficient systems, or upgrades to existing systems.
Help monitor and improve energy usage across the property.
Support implementation of sustainability or smart building technologies.
What we need from you
Strong knowledge of Australian electrical standards and safety practices.
Experience in commercial or hospitality electrical systems.
Problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and schematics.
Good communication skills for dealing with guests or hotel staff.
Time management and ability to prioritise urgent work.
Attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance.
A current unrestricted Electrical Licence in Queensland.
Minimum Electrician trade qualification as required by law
Any other applicable certification as required by law.
Fluent in the English language.
Impeccable grooming standards and good personal hygiene.
Full working rights in Australia without restrictions.
