Downer Energy & Utilities is seeking experienced Electrical Fitters, Line Mechanics and Glove & Barrier (G&B) specialists ready to move into hands‑on Team Leader roles across the Waikato & Coromandel.
These are not standard crew lead roles . They offer increased responsibility, fault response exposure, and earning potential that reflects the role — while keeping you active on the tools.

The Opportunity
As a Team Leader, you’ll guide skilled crews delivering critical electricity distribution work. You will:
Lead daily field operations and crew performance
Support and respond during faults and outages
Maintain Zero Harm, quality and productivity standards
Coordinate work with Supervisors and Project Managers
Mentor and develop team members
Ideal for someone ready to step into leadership without stepping away from the tools. We're seeking Team Leaders with skillsets as:
Electrical Fitters
Glove & Barrier (G&B)
Line Mechanics
What you’ll bring
You’re an experienced tradesperson with a strong safety mindset, ready to take on greater responsibility and lead others in a hands ‑ on environment.
NZ ‑ recognised electrical trade qualification, with current registration and practising licence (NZQA L4 or equivalent)
Proven experience in your trade, including exposure to substations, equipment maintenance or distribution networks
Strong commitment to Zero Harm, with the ability to lead safe work in high ‑ risk environments
Leadership experience or clear readiness to step into a Team Leader role (training provided for the right person)
Sound decision ‑ making, communication and planning skills in fast ‑ paced field environments
Commitment to high work standards and developing others within a positive team culture
