Job Description
GTS Group are seeking to recruit An Electronic Engineer who will be working under the Head of Systems and Development alongside a two other electronic engineers. You will contribute to the design, development, and support of complex electronic hardware for advanced systems. This role spans the full product lifecycle, from requirements capture to production and through-life support, offering a chance to grow and make a real difference.
Key Responsibilities of the Electronic Engineer
• Design and capture schematics for analogue and digital hardware.
• Design and layout multi-layer PCBs.
• Test and troubleshoot electronic hardware.
• Develop firmware and FPGA designs using VHDL - Willingness to learn.
• Create and implement test processes and equipment.
• Manage through-life support and obsolescence of hardware.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues.
• Produce high-quality design documentation.
Candidate Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience:
• Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent (2:1 or above).
• Demonstrable electronic design skills.
• Eagerness to learn through self-driven curiosity, formal training, and practical experience.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
• Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in FPGA design and development using VHDL and Intel Quartus Prime. D
• Expertise in analogue circuit design (e.g., signal conditioning, filtering, data acquisition).
• Experience with schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout using Altium Designer.
• Familiarity with communication interfaces (e.g., Ethernet, RS232, RS485, SPI, I2C). D
• Strong embedded software skills in C and C++ for microcontrollers and SoC platforms.
• Experience transitioning PCB designs to production, including Design for Test (DFT) and automated test fixtures.
Location and Working Arrangements
This role is based in the Somerset office. While some hybrid working is available, regular on-site presence is required due to the hands-on nature of hardware development.
