EMBEDDED SYSTEM ENGINEER
Jaipur, Rajasthan & Ahmedabad, Gujarat
StdAux Space Division is building a solution for On-orbit servicing, cleaning and reusability of space assets in the space itself. We are doing that by deploying a constellation of servicing vehicles who can capture the client satellite, perform necessary servicing required and put them in the required orbit. Our fully deployed constellation will be capable of performing any servicing operation anywhere in the space itself where can be be reached.
As a member of the electronics and electrical team you will be working in the development of the required new capabilities, electrical design of vehicle architecture, repair of electrical components, and troubleshooting of avionics subsystems including power distribution, vehicle network, onboard sensors, actuators, compute, RF, and video subsystems for the satellites, inverters, power circuitry, DAS system, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Requirement specification and trade study for hardware selection
• Design embedded software for new electronic products ranging from simple microcontroller- based solutions to highly complex embedded processing systems.
• Lead smaller software embedded systems development projects – identifying required development activities and directing other team members in completing those activities
• Collaborate with team members, including hardware designers, to identify software-related requirements and develop corresponding software design strategies or architecture that meets those requirements using the best approach based on performance, cost, and resources
• Develop detailed software specifications based on requirements and implement embedded code by those defined requirements and specifications.
• Initiate bringing the new custom embedded processor hardware with support from hardware designers
• Establish software verification testing tools and methods and execute software testing activities
• Provide software engineering input to development project quoting activities
• Contribute to the improvement of department processes and tools, particularly those related to software development
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field, science, or math
• 2+ years of experience with electrical component design, system level integration of electronic components or system level testing
• 1+ years of experience using software tools such as Matlab, C++, Python, Altium, Ansys for electrical and electronics design
• Must have advanced skill in developing original designs with Linux C/C++ in embedded environments including bare-metal, multi-threaded RTOS, and embedded operating systems.
• Demonstrated skill in independently using electronics lab equipment to develop/troubleshoot low-level drivers and hardware integration for interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, USB, etc.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Competence with electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.)
• Programming expreience on microcontrollers, embedded systems, etc.
• Creative problem solving that can bring multiple disciplines together with the ability to assess risk and make design/development decisions without all available data
• Experience troubleshooting sensors, actuators, and electrical components
• Experience with 3D CAD software
• Software fluency, enabling automation of test or analysis tasks
• Self-motivated with strong multi-tasking, organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphere
• Operations experience in flight test, piloting aircraft, or controlling other high consequence systems in real time
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to work at elevated heights (200+ feet)
• Ability to work and built in tight quarters and physical dexterity is required
• Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings and climbing hand over hand
• Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain
• Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
• Must be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed based on site operational needs; flexibility required
• Valid driver’s license
• Occasional travel may be required to support activation of the project where it will be installed and used.
• Ability to pass Airport Authority of India (AAI) and Indian Space and Defence Institutes background checks.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
