Job Description
As a Principal Embedded Platform Software Engineer , you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining embedded software platforms for automotive systems.
You will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality embedded software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Platform Design and Architecture:
• Lead the design and architecture of embedded software platforms for automotive systems, considering performance, reliability, scalability, and safety requirements.
• Define software interfaces, protocols, and standards for efficient communication and integration with various vehicle subsystems.
• 12+ years of experience in the automotive domain with hands on the low level software development
• Strong knowledge of EE architecture, 16/32 Microcontrollers, BSP and RTOS concepts
• Excellent C, C++, python and assembly programming and debugging skills.
• Experience in platform software maintenance, analyzing and solving field issues is a plus
• Familiarity with AUTOSAR (Classic and Adaptive) concepts, hypervisor, architecture, specifications, and configuration tools like GENy, Candela Studio, Davinci Configurator Pro.
• Knowledge of automotive communication protocols UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, CANFD, LIN, ETHERNET etc
• Knowledge o higher layer protocols like J1587, J1+3+, J1850 , KWP2000, UDS 1422+ etc
• Knowledge of ISO standard 26262
• Knowledge of tools like Canalyzer/CANOE, CANape, debuggers, flashing tools etc
• Working with Agile teams and familiarity with toolchains like Jenkins, Clearcase, GIT, JIRA
• Comprehensive knowledge of SAFe Agile Way of Working and mindset is a plus.
• Embedded Software Development:
• Develop and enhance embedded software components, drivers, and frameworks to support the platform requirements.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using programming languages such as C/C++ and assembly language.
• Collaborate with software development teams to ensure seamless integration of software components and efficient utilization of hardware resources.
• System Integration and Testing:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, system architects, and test engineers, to ensure successful integration of software with the overall vehicle system.
• Develop and execute test plans and procedures to verify the functionality, performance, and safety of the embedded software platform.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues in the software platform, identify root causes, and propose appropriate solutions.
• Documentation and Communication:
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, interface documents, and user manuals.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including project managers, product owners, and customers, to provide updates, gather requirements, and address any concerns.
Qualifications and Skills:
Masters / bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering
• Extensive experience in embedded software development, preferably in the automotive industry.
• Strong knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers, real-time operating systems, and low-level device drivers.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ and assembly language.
• Familiarity with automotive safety standards (ISO 26262) and functional safety concepts.
• Hands-on experience with software development tools, debugging tools, and version control systems.
• Leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor a team of engineers.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
