JPMorgan's EMEA Legal Markets Practice group is looking for a motivated Trusted Advisor to join its dynamic Markets Derivatives, Clearing and Fixed Income Financing team. Upon joining the team, the successful candidate will learn a wide range of financial products (e.g. Bilateral Derivatives, Exchange Traded Derivatives, Cleared Swaps, Repo and Stock Lending) and will develop the legal skills required to draft and negotiate the market standard agreements (including but not limited to, ISDA Master, Futures & Options and Cleared OTC Derivatives agreements, GMRA and GMSLA agreements.
This is an exciting and dynamic role that will enable the successful candidate to develop their skills and knowledge as a financial services lawyer through working on a variety of products within the wider Markets Practice Group. By joining the team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a critical role in the success of several market leading businesses, where the role of the in-house lawyer is vital to the success of the business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring appropriate legal agreements are negotiated and put in place with new and existing clients being onboarded onto the Markets platform. The Position involves frequent interaction with internal teams across the Corporate & Investment Bank including Sales, Credit Risk, Client Service, Business Management and Operations, as well as Dealers and external Clients.
Other responsibilities include; coordinating Credit approvals, initiating Client documentation process with different production areas of the firm, commission and reviewing of various legal opinions and resolving issues raised by Clients and the relevant Markets Businesses that relate to legal agreements and Markets product suites.
Responsibilities
Drafting and finalizing Markets specific agreements with Dealers and Clients (including various master agreements and electronic trading documentation).
Coordinating senior internal approvals
Interpreting, explaining and negotiating legal agreements to Clients and Executing Brokers.
Strategize with relevant Markets Businesses on best way to manage changes to product development, risk or operational processes.
Assisting and advising on regulatory change and implementation affecting the relevant Markets Business.
Driving process, documentation, and efficiency improvements across the team's areas of coverage.
Skills and experience
Previous derivative documentation experience - Fixed Income Financing, Futures and Options experience or OTC derivatives preferred but not essential
Admitted Solicitor preferred but not essential
motivation and determination to learn
Strong attention to detail and interpersonal experience
Relevant knowledge of derivatives and applicable regulations preferred but not essential
Polished verbal and written communication skills
Must be literate in Microsoft programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
Ability to manage projects and work independently
Team player, confident, and proactive
