About the Role

We have permanent part time positions available within the Emergency Department (up to 48.8 hours per fortnight are available) at The Royal Children's Hospital.

You will be responsible for providing front line customer service for patients and families presenting to the Emergency Department and clerical support to the clinical team. You are required to provide a range of administrative tasks such as telephone enquiries, appointment scheduling, patient registration and liaising with various medical professionals and other stakeholders.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships and key internal and external stakeholders.

Contribute to the continous improvement of processes and procedures within the department to assist in effective and efficient operations

Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

Your skills and experience:

Previous administrative experience in a busy clinical environment

Ability and flexibility to take on additional shifts as requested

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Proven ability to multitask and prioritise

Professional and positive attitude

About the Emergency Department

The Emergency Department at The Royal Children's Hospital provides urgent medical care to children and adolescents. The Department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Approximately 90,000 patients, ranging from newborns to teenagers, are seen each year. The Department is staffed by medical, nurse practitioners, nursing, clerical, allied health (eg social work, mental health workers etc.) and administrative staff as well as ward services assistants. The clinical area has four Resuscitation rooms, 26 cubicles / rooms, four Procedure rooms and is closely associated with the Medical Imaging and Dolphin - Medical Short Stay Unit.
